Founder's story
A few years ago, I helped my 16‑year‑old nephew, Jude, secure work experience in London through my own network. It was an exceptional opportunity and reminded me that access to experiences like this too often depends on who you know and where you live. Growing up in a town in the Midlands, opportunities like this were out of reach to most.
What happened next surprised me. After completing his placements, Jude sat down to write his UCAS personal statement and struggled to explain what he had actually learned about finance and even what he’d learned about himself.
"The world of work has no curriculum — Intrainship exists to change that"
While it was inspiring for Jude to be rotating through departments in leading financial companies, I realised to maximise the opportunity, he needed more than shadowing. He needed to engage with real work tasks — to succeed, to fail and to learn by doing. The world of work has no curriculum — Intrainship exists to change that.
Intrainship creates structured, guided work experiences designed with real employers and supported by reflection and coaching. This helps students build real skills, articulate their learning, and work out what they want to do next.
I’ve been struck by how widely this mission resonates. Students feel empowered. Parents see purpose. Educators recognise value. Employers see an opportunity to help close the human skills gap.
The world is changing rapidly, shaped by AI. Young people need more than knowledge to thrive. They need real human skills, connections and the ability to articulate their value. Work experience has too often been a missed opportunity to develop this. Not anymore.
